Almarai Award of Scientific Innovation’s fourteenth edition
Under the patronage of HH Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed Al Saud, Governor of Northern Frontier Region, in the attendance of HH Prince Sultan bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Kabeer, Board Chairman of Almarai, Northern Frontier University, on April 1st, 2015, hosted honoring ceremony of Almarai Award of Scientific Innovation supervised by King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST)
At the ceremony, HH Prince Sultan bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Kabeer, Board Chairman of Almarai delivered a speech, in which he thanked HH Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed Al Saud, Governor of Northern Frontier Region, for the cordial reception, generous hospitality, and the open heart of the beautiful northern city of Arar that hosted the ward in its fourteenth chapter this year. He also congratulated the prizewinners of this year for the applied research work that reflect positively on the national progress and advancement.
Then, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al Suwailem, KACST Vice President for Scientific Research Support, Member of the Supreme Council, and Secretary General of the Award, delivered a speech on behalf of HH Prince Dr. Turki bin Saud bin Mohammed Al Saud, KACST President and Chairman of the Award Supreme Council, in which he said: “We’re standing with all pride for the fourteenth year in an occasion of giving”. He added that if the decisiveness heroism is ongoing in the south, the resoluteness epic takes place here in the north, because honoring scientists is a major advancement factor and a support for scientific and technical research.
And then, a documentary on the award and winners was played. The prize of excellent scientist was awarded to Dr. Mohammed Mannaa Qattan, Professor of Plastic Surgery and Burns, Director of Research Center, King Saud University. Innovative work prize was awarded jointly to Dr. Nasser Mohammed Al-Oqaily and the research team of King Fahad University for Petroleum and Minerals “KFUPM”, Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Eltouny and the research team of King Saud University “KSU”. The prize of research unit was split between Engineering Research Center KFUPM and the Chair of Advanced Material Research KSU.
