Almarai is the first company to obtain an international certificate in animal care for the dairy and poultry

Almarai has become the first company globally to obtain the international certificate for animal wellness for dairy farms and operations. Almarai has also become the first company in Saudi Arabia to be certified in the poultry hatchery, transport, and operation. This recognition has been provided by NSF International according to International Animal Wellness standards.

“Almarai, as one of the largest and most trusted food companies in the Middle East, places animal health, care, and husbandry in the heart of its business to ensure food safety and security. We do this to guarantee that we sustain the delivery of the best products every day to our millions of consumers who trust our brand”, said Abdullah Al-Otaibi, Head of Corporate Communication and Public Relations at Almarai.

“Gaining this achievement comes in line with Almarai’s sustainability strategy, Better Every Day, which focuses on caring for consumers, protecting the environment, and developing responsible products. It also reinforces our promise of “quality you can trust” to millions of customers for more than four decades.” Al-Otaibi added

“We welcome Almarai as the world’s first company certified to the NSF Global Animal Wellness standard (GAWS) for animal welfare management systems and dairy production,” said Dr Elaine Vanier, technical scheme leads for Animal Wellness, NSF International. “Animal welfare is a global agricultural and food industry imperative. For the first time, NSF GAWS enables the food industry to shift from traditional prescriptive approaches to animal welfare schemes to one focused on systems management and outcomes. We are pleased that Almarai achieved GAWS certification to help ensure consistent animal wellness is instituted at every stage of their dairy and live poultry production.”

It is worth mentioning that Almarai is the largest vertically integrated dairy company globally and the largest in the production and distribution of food and beverages in the Middle East. Almarai products are consumed by more than 42 million consumers in the Arab Gulf region, Egypt, and Jordan.
