The Supreme Council of Almarai Prize for Scientific Creativity has announced the winners of the 19th edition Award. This was during their meeting at King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology in Riyadh. The meeting was conducted by Dr. Anas bin Faris Al-Faris, the president of the city, in the presence of his Highness, Prince Nayef Bin Sultan Bin Mohammad Bin Saud Al-Kabeer, the chairman of the board at Almarai, and the chairman of the supreme council of the award, as well as excellency, Dr. Khalid Bin Mohammed Al-Sulaiman, and His excellency, Dr. Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz Al-Ohali, the director of King Faisal University, and Dr. Sahl Abdul-Jawad, the Vice President of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals for Studies and Applied Research, As well as, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Malik, the Vice-President of King Abdulaziz City for Scientific Research, and Dr. Badr Al Farhan, the award secretary.The Distinguished Scientist Award has been awarded equally to Dr. Mohammed Al-Daoudi, and Dr. Othman Muhammad Bakr from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology. On the other side, the Creative Work Award has been awarded to Dr. Abdulrahman Bin Mohammed Al-Hazimi, from King Saud University.
The Creative Scientific Work Award of the doctoral students has been awarded to Mrs. Eman Bodleoah, from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, and Mr. Muhammad Yunus Dita, from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. On the other side, the Master’s degree students’ Creative Work award has been awarded to Abdullah Yusuf Al-Salloum, from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology. And the Creative Work Award of the undergraduate students has been withheld due to the incompetence of the submitted works.
The Award of Research Unit has been awarded to the Center for Research Excellence in Renewable Energy from King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals.
“Supporting scientific research is a fundamental pillar of Almarai’s social responsibility programs to maintain sustainable development the country,” mentioned Abdullah Al-Otaibi, the Head of Corporate Communications and Public Relations at Almarai, and added: “Almarai Award for the Scientific Creativity, with what it provides in rewarding the prestigious scientific researches every year, it contributes to the development of the science in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and supports the march of distinguished scientists towards more creativity”.
Almarai had launched its award for Scientific Creativity in 2001, as part of its social responsibility initiatives in cooperation with the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology. The aim of the award is to supporting science, scientists, and researchers in the fields of basic sciences, applied sciences, development, and innovation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and obtaining it leads to an entitlement to scientific excellence rewards for members of Saudi faculty and those of similar rank in Saudi universities.
