Date Cake Recipe

Date cake is perfect for sweetening special moments after Iftar and adds a delicious touch to celebratory gatherings during Ramadan.

Ingredients

2 cups flour


1/2 cup Almarai milk  


1/2 cup Almarai melted butter 


1/2 cup sugar


1 egg


1/2 teaspoon baking powder


Pinch of salt


For the Filling:
2 cups dates, peeled and chopped


1/2 cup water


1/2 teaspoon cinnamon


1/4 cup Almarai yoghurt


For Decoration:
Powdered sugar

Instructions
  1.  Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius and prepare the cake pan by greasing it with butter and dusting it with flour.
     
  2.  Mix the flour, sugar, melted butter, egg, milk, baking powder, and a pinch of salt in a large bowl until you get a smooth dough.
     
  3.  Place the chopped dates, water, and cinnamon in a small saucepan.
     
  4.  9`Cook them on low heat until the dates become soft.
     
  5.  Add the yoghurt to the date mixture and stir them together for a few minutes.
     
  6.  Roll out half of the dough into the base of the pan, then pour the date mixture over it.
     
  7.  Roll out the remaining half of the dough over the date mixture.
     
  8.  Bake in the oven for 30-40 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
     
  9.  Once the cake has cooled, sprinkle powdered sugar and decorate with date pieces.
