Easy cheese kunafa

One of the most delicious oriental sweets that combines a rich and delicious taste with a touch of distinctive ingredients

Ingredients

300g mafroukeh kunafa dough

200g Almarai shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup sugar

½ cup water

1 tsp lemon juice

1 tsp rose water or orange blossom water

3 tbsp melted butter

Crushed pistachios for garnish

Instructions
  1. In a saucepan, combine sugar and water, then bring to a boil.
     
  2. Add lemon juice and simmer for 8–10 minutes until the syrup thickens slightly.
     
  3. Stir in the rose water or orange blossom water, then set aside to cool.
     
  4. Grease a round baking pan with butter and spread half of the mafroukeh dough, pressing it down gently.
     
  5. Add a layer of Almarai mozzarella cheese on top of the dough.
     
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 25–30 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
     
  7. Remove it from the oven and immediately pour the cooled sugar syrup over the hot kunafa.
     
  8. Garnish with crushed pistachios and serve.
