Maamoul Recipe

Maamoul is a traditional, delicious, sweet beloved during festive occasions, especially during Eid Al-Fitr.

Ingredients

For the Dough:
1 cup Almarai melted butter 


1/2 cup Almarai ghee


1/2 cup Almarai milk 


1/2 cup sugar


3 cups flour


1 teaspoon vanilla


Pinch of salt


For the Filling:
2 tablespoons Almarai butter 


2 cups chopped dates


1/2 cup chopped walnuts


1 teaspoon cinnamon


For Garnish:
Powdered sugar

Instructions

For the Dough:
 

  1.  In a large bowl, mix flour with melted butter, ghee, milk, sugar, vanilla, and a pinch of salt until you get a smooth dough. • Let it rest for 30 minutes. 

    For the Filling:
     
  2.  In a pan, sauté the chopped dates and walnuts in butter until they become soft.
     
  3.  Add cinnamon and continue cooking for a few more minutes. Let them cool. 

    Shaping:
     
  4.  Divide the dough into small balls. Shape each ball into a circle and fill it with a small amount of the date mixture.
     
  5.  Seal the dough to form a semi-circle and pinch the edges.
     
  6.  Place the Maamoul in a tray lined with parchment paper. 

    Baking:
     
  7.  Bake the Maamoul in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius until it becomes golden. 

    For Garnish:
     
  8.  While the Maamoul is still hot, sprinkle powdered sugar on top.
